Tech Tuesdays: Invisible Audio
In last week’s Tech Tuesday video, we introduced the brand Amina, known for their audio that is heard but not seen. These speakers are typically plastered over to fit into walls, but suit a number of coverings to fit any surrounding where aesthetics are key!
The appeal of using speakers that disappear into the surface is certainly immediate – but understanding the spaces that they suit can be difficult at first. Here are some of the key applications that we see Amina speakers fitting into.
Where visuals matter: The obvious benefits of using invisible speakers like Amina is that they can fit in to any application without intruding on the aesthetic of the room. Cabinet speakers are great for many applications, but in certain spaces they can stand out and be disruptive to the flow of an area. Retailers in Harrods have been one of the many adopters of Amina loudspeakers, as brands have an expectation to provide a high-end experience – sights and sounds included. From mirror finishes to designer interiors – the Amina loudspeakers are adaptable to any demand.
Where space matters: Amina loudspeakers are great for areas that are tight on space for number of reasons. The first of which being that they don’t take up any! Most surfaces can support Amina loudspeakers, meaning no tight corners or brackets wedged against the ceiling. Full range audio is possible without compromising on free space.
As discussed in last week’s video, the frequency response and dispersion of the Amina range also allows us to use fewer speakers in a single location than we would with standard ceiling or cabinet speakers do to their 180-degree coverage. This saves installation time and costs, all whilst still giving high-performance audio with even distribution across an area.
Where audio matters: Even the smallest loudspeaker in Amina’s offering, the 3i, boasts full range audio with responses down to 40Hz. Due to their build, Amina speakers vibrate the entire surface, meaning we have equal excitement of all frequencies. With standard conical loudspeakers, the high-frequencies have a much narrower dispersion than the low, which creates an uneven listening experience. As previously mentioned, these speakers have a 180-degree coverage for all frequencies – meaning each user is always on axis and hears the audio as it is meant to be heard!
Amina loudspeakers are more than just invisible speakers – they provide an exceptional experience and add value to any installation. Hopefully this has given you a few ideas as to where these speakers can be situated, but there are dozens of applications that suit!
